Join TV actors for a night of kids drama
The final Perth Actors Collective (PAC) Script Lab for 2008 will be a special behind-the-scenes peek at television pilot episodes in development on Wednesday November 26.
Pilot episodes for a new children's television series Blue Gum Ridge will be read by a number of talented Perth actors. Writer, Ali Roberts hopes that feedback from the audience will help her in polishing the next draft of the scripts. One of the actors reading will be teenage actor Clarence Ryan, who was recently nominated for Best Young Actor at the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards. Several other experienced Perth actors will also be reading.
Blue Gum Ridge is a script with a difference, offering an unusual take on contemporary life: Who would have thought that a common or garden Aussie ‘dunny' could transport you through time? The teenagers of Blue Gum Ridge in 2009 discover this when they stumble upon a deserted hut in the bush near their town.
They are transported back to the same town in 1961and learn the joys of life at a slower pace while missing many of life's essential ‘luxuries' like mobile phones, iPods and computers. The teenage boys who first discover this time vortex set rules for their friends concerning the use of ‘time flushing' to safeguard their secret.
Blue Gum Ridge was written by skilled actor and drama coach Ali Roberts who played a role in the ABC mini-series The Shark Net; starred alongside John Waters in the film Bouncer and featured in the TV series Wormwood.
Young and old are invited to join this PAC Script Lab for a promising night of creative and exciting entertainment, along with the unique opportunity to provide feedback on what may end up on your TV screen.
