WA films continue to succeed internationally

18 November 2008

The Western Australian documentary Courting with Justice has been selected for the 2009 Pacific international Documentary Film Festival (FIFO) held in Tahiti.

Courting with Justice is a 26-minute documentary that poses the question - what if the Australian legal system was not based on the British model but rather Indigenous Australian Customary Law? The film is directed by Debbie Carmody and produced by Natalie Bell.

The WA short film My Shout has most recently been selected for the Human Rights Arts Film Festival (HRAFF) in Melbourne and the Shorts Film Festival in Adelaide. My Shout is produced by Jeff Asselin and written and directed by Julian Argus and follows a farmer who, when faced with adversity, takes matters into his own hands. The film has been selected for numerous festivals internationally.

If your film has been selected for a film festival or received an accolade, we would love to hear about it and let the industry know via ScreenOnline.

My Shout and Courting with Justice are both produced with the assistance of ScreenWest and Lotterywest.
